Surabaya!

I once went to Surabaya when I was a kid. I visited my family in Malang and they took me to a nice trip to Surabaya. ICE-SKATING FOR THE FIRST TIME! That was such a happy moment. After that, I practiced skating by in-line-skate in a garage. The second time was with my friend who also went to Bromo with me in 2013. We went there because we wanna took a pic of the crocodile and shark, one of the most famous monument in Surabaya. Near the most famous (and evil) zoo in this world, KBS.
This was my third time to Surabaya. I went there using a bus from pare, only IDR 25k. After I arrived at the bus station, I met my friend, Mbak Puspita, and she accompanied me until the end of this journey hahaha. We wanted to use train, because Mbak Puspita really didn't know how to enjoy Surabaya without motorcycle. She had a cycle, but couldn't took me behind. Trauma, maybe? Me, why didn't I ride that thing? Nononono, I can't. Actually I can, a litle bit, but Surabaya's traffic was too harsh for an amateur like me. The problem was that Mbak Puspita forgot to save the cycle. If we went by train, the cycle must be saved because the parking lot only available until 5 pm. Finally, 2 guys came!

I never met that 2 guys before. I forget their name also hahaha. All I remember now is that they were friends of Mbak Puspita who she met from a trip to Ijen. They were the arranger of that trip hahaha. The next problem was... Mbak Puspita forgot to tell them that we must have another helm. ARGH. Then we forced ourselves to pass the road to the home of the 2 guys and took a helm. Now, we're ready!

The first destination was Monumen Perjuangan. This is an important place for Indonesia. On November 10th, the fighter from Indonesia broke the flag of Netherland (red-white-blue). He broke the blue one. Because of that, Indonesian's flag was red and white.
Next destination! Sampoerna's Museum. This was a nice museum. All of the things inside that museum was related to cigarettes, for sure.
That 2 guys finally said goodbye to us because they wanted to attend a wedding, so that's OK. Thank you so much! After that, me and Mbak Puspita went to the center of the city. We walked around the Submarine Museum and a skate park. We then went to Gubeng Station to meet one of my friend, Kak Tri. Kak Tri was the person who would acompany me to the next journey. Times were running so fast and we decided to take a dinner near that station.

At night, we went to Mbak Puspita's home in Sidoarjo, near the Surabaya's airport. What would happen next? Just wait and see ;)

Creative CV

I've been forced to make a creative CV. I actually wanted it to be a hard copy one. A box decorated specifically to be a 3D-CV. I thought that was a great idea but took a long time. So I decided to make an infographic one. A simple one, but OK. Check this out!

Bromo!

Since I received a great appreciation by using English, from now on, I will use English. Sorry if my grammar is not really good hahaha.

I already went to Bromo in 2013.

After a week I studied in Pare, my friend asked me to go to Bromo with a cheap price. Definitely I wanted to go there again because I couldn't enjoy the sunrise before. Sunday, 1st February 2014, I went from Pare around 10 pm by minibus directly to Bromo.

After we got there, we surely put our jackets because it was sooo cold. It was raining at that time and I felt sad because I might not getting sunrise again. We went to the peak by a pick-up-car. Luckily I brought a raincoat, so I didn't get wet. We arrived at the peak and not catching the sunrise -_-
Edo and a Korean noona, SARANG-HAEEE <3

Next destination is a caldera. There was a lot of people using stairs and because of that we used a small road besides the stairs. It actually kinda hard to climb, but whatever. We finally reached the caldera, and fiola! This mountain was active for sure.

We went downstairs and went to the savana. The scenery was sooo good, seemed like the first time coming there.

Our last destination was Pasir Berbisik. Because of the rain, we didn't really enjoy the sands.

Well, I failed to catch the sunrise again. Maybe I will go there again, maybe... Thanks to all my new friends! You're great! Wish we can meet again someday!

Poverty Eradication and Food Security #WCY2014

Have you ever seen this picture?
This is the picture which won the Pulitzer Award in 1993, taken by Kevin Carter in Sudan.
Then what do you think about this picture?

The World Food Summit of 1996 defined FOOD SECURITY as existing “when all people at all times have access to sufficient, safe, nutritious food to maintain a healthy and active life”. The kid in the picture surely didn't feel secure about food.

(Source: Feed the Future Guide, USAID, May 2010)

The infographic shows the four main components of food security. The first one is AVAILABILITY. The problem is that we have to feed a lot of people but we don't have a land to produce the food. As a soon-to-be-food-technologist, I want to make FOOD WHICH CONTAIN ENOUGH NUTRITION like what astronaut eat, but with a cheap price. I read an article about China and Japan which develop the agriculture sector by PLANTING IN BUILDING. I think, this can be a great solution. For you who haven't heard about P 2000 Z, is a biofeltilizer which contains micro-organisms to fertile bad ground. Prof Zum, who invented this thing, have worked in Dubai to fertile the land.

If we already have the food, we have to have MONEY TO ACCESS it. But some people in this world are living in POVERTY. According to Wikipedia, poverty is general scarcity or death, or the state of one who lacks a certain amount of material possessions or money. Yes, money isn't everything, but in real life, we really need that. We can buy basic human needs such as food, house, and clothes by money. A lot of people don't have money. On the other side, some people is wasting money for something we don't really need, like WAR. WE HAVE TO STOP THAT! Poor people also have to have an introspection to themselves. Why can they be poor? EDUCATION is one important factor.

After we have money, the government must STABILIZE the amount of food. In fact, our land that supose to plant the food we need is abused by other things. For example, the rich one want to have more money then they plant more palm trees instead of wheat. We need a rule to limit the production of other plant. We must have a PRIORITY for everyone.

The last one is UTILIZATION. We have the food, money, and nice system. What must we do next? We must have a good knowledge about FOOD SANITARY. The producer must know about ISO 22000, an international standard for food, ISO 14000 for waste, and HACCP (try to search what is the meaning of that, if you don't know). We, as a society, also have to know the basic sanitation such as washing hand. Although it is simple, sometimes we forget about it.

For those who doesn't care about poverty and food security:
Just because it isn’t happening here, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.
